A wedding at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh – Jennifer and Steven
On the 2nd Dec 2023 on a cold crisp winters day, Jennifer and Steven married in Greyfriars Hall, Virgin Hotels Edinburgh. We asked them to help tell how their day went and what they thought of the venue.
Why did you choose Greyfriars Hall?
We knew that we wanted to get married in the centre of Edinburgh, so enthusiastically began our search for the perfect venue. Choosing the Virgin Hotel for our wedding day was simple - iconic location, beautiful venue, lovely staff and dog friendly. It ticked every box for us.
Was there anything special and unique about the venue?
The venue strikes a perfect balance of traditional elegance and quirky modern decor. The Greyfriars Hall is spectacular - we could instantly imagine our family and friends joining us there for our wedding.
We were able to put our own stamp on the day - it felt as though nothing was too much trouble. We served 'Bramble' cocktails in honour of our dog who celebrated our day with us.
What was the highlight of your day?
The whole day was wonderful - it's tough to pick a highlight! We loved sneaking away to have our photographs taken around the hotel and along the iconic Victoria Street. We got married in December so the festive lights were up and everyone in the street was wrapped up cosy - they cheered us as we walked along.
There's few things we love more than a boogie so we hired a live band, White Doves - our dancefloor was packed all night!
Why would you recommend Greyfriars Hall to other couples?
Planning our day was such a joyful and easy experience. You've hit the jackpot if you're organising your wedding with Jo Mckinnell - she's cool as a cucumber and goes above and beyond. On the day itself, everything was perfect - we truly had the best time. The venue package included a Toastmaster - we have to give a shout out to Sandy who was superb at setting the tone for our guests (especially during our confetti throw!).
